Table of Contents
Is rotisserie chicken healthy?
Yes, without the skin. Especially compared to fast food.
Rotisserie chickens are full of protein and some essential vitamins. But they can also be overly full of sodium.
The nutritional value of a rotisserie chicken meal also depends on what you pair it with. Typical mac and cheese or creamy mashed potatoes turn rotisserie chicken into a calorie-loaded comfort food meal. Which is totally fine – occasionally.
For a healthier option, pair your rotisserie chicken with salad or sauteed veggies for a more balanced meal. There are lots of meals to make with a rotisserie chicken.
Store-bought rotisserie chickens are a good break from cooking from scratch every day, and definitely beat out deep-fried foods in the nutrition category.
So if you’re feeling pinched for time or energy, by all means, make use of someone else’s cooking!
How do you shred a rotisserie chicken?
Using a knife and fork to separate the meat from the bone. Then use two forks to shred the chicken.
You can also use a hand mixer or stand mixer if you’re making a lot of shredded chicken.
How long is a rotisserie chicken good for?
Rotisserie chicken stored in an air-tight container in the fridge will keep for about 4 days. But it’s better consumed sooner than that.
It can also be kept in Ziploc bags or sealed containers in the freezer for a month or so.
Can I season already cooked rotisserie chicken?
Yes! Of course.
Rotisserie chicken is very amenable to additional spices and seasonings. For example, when making any of the shredded chicken taco recipes, adding taco seasoning is delish!
