Experience
Hi 👋🏻. I’m Shannon.
It’s so nice to meet you!
I’ve spent the last sixteen plus years helping women create homes they actually love living in.
I started Home Made Lovely in 2010 as a DIY and decorating blog. My husband Dean and I were working on our wee little bungalow together – painting, building, renovating – and I wanted a place to share it. That first house improved, we sold it and bought another, and then we did it again. Along the way something shifted. The decorating was fun, but what I kept coming back to – what I kept hearing from readers – was the organizing. Specifically, why it was so hard. Why it never seemed to stick. Why smart, capable women were putting in real effort and still feeling like their homes were out of control.
I spent years figuring that out. Reading, researching, working with real women in real homes, testing and refining. What I found was that the problem almost never came down to motivation or personality. It came down to method. Most organizing advice skips the most important steps, starts in the wrong place, and creates systems designed for an idealized household rather than a real one.
The RESET method is what I built from all of that. Five steps, in a specific order, that work in any room – no matter how long it’s been this way, no matter what your personality type, no matter your budget. It’s the foundation of everything I teach.
Home Made Lovely has reached more than 20 million readers since 2010. I’ve worked with over 100 brands including Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Starbucks. My books, Home Made Lovely and The Clutter Fix, have sold over 23,000 copies and are available wherever books are sold. And The Home RESET Club – my monthly membership where women tackle their whole home one room at a time – is the thing I’m most proud of building.
I live in the suburbs of Toronto with Dean, who is my best friend, my handyman, and the person who helps me to measure everything twice. Our three kids are young adults now, which means the house gets messier in completely different ways than it used to.

Home Made Lovely
Home Made Lovely is a mindset: decorating should be about those who live there, rather than making your home into a magazine-worthy spread.

The Clutter Fix
Clutter isn’t just about the stuff. It’s about how you feel in your home–and in your mind. This book will give you the peaceful dwelling you’ve always hoped for.
I believe:
Your home matters. Not because it needs to look a certain way, but because the way it feels affects everything – your stress, your relationships, your ability to rest and think and be present. You deserve a home that supports your real life. I’d love to help you get there.
