Early Summer House Tour – A Little Bit Coastal, A Little Bit Cottage

Here’s our slightly coastal, slightly cottage early summer house tour!

It seems funny to be sharing a summer house tour with you when we’re sort of working on a few things. Like finally getting new white blinds for the living room and doing a switcheroo with the dining chairs. But such is the nature of blogging our house for a living – constant changes here to inspire and encourage you to make your home all it can be.

Here's our slightly coastal, slightly cottage early summer house tour!

Summer House Tour

Mostly I think I’ll let the photos do the talking. I will include sources though if you want to find something for your own place. πŸ™‚ I’m deliberately skipping the entryway because at the moment – judging by all the shoes on the floor – it looks like fifteen people live here! We can pretend it still looks like this…

We’ll be sharing our front yard/porch a little later this summer, so we’ll just dive right into the living room. A most well-used and loved space.

Home Made Lovely summer living room

Our living room doubles as my office at the moment (the basement studio is hopefully soon to be in progress now that we’ve been able to figure out both another kid’s bedroom, a family room and my office space down there!) and that means a lot of crates full of supplies, a Silhouette machine and two printers have to be stylishly store in the living room.

Thank goodness for diy industrial shelves.

And a little painted secretary desk.

I also love to change up the decor on our fun little mantel.

Oddly enough this summer I didn’t add an bright colors to our summer decor. Just a lot of neutrals and some beachy accents.

As for the dining room, I had big plans to set the table for summer for you. But alas, simple and bare it is.

The sideboard is always dressed up though.

And while it’s only two rooms, that will have to be it for the tour this time – we’re so busy working on the yard and Dean’s Father’s Day gift (the garage) that the rest of the house is in shambles.

How’s your summer house looking?

xo,
Shannon

  22. I love your sign “Let me be singing when the evening comes” (some of my favorite lyrics). Where did you get it?

  23. On October 3, thirty high shocol students from Mount Si’s Key Club visited the homes of two elderly folks in North Bend. Armed with gloves, garden tools, and determination ..they set out to offer assistance to these homeowners where the labor had simply become too big an obstacle. The students split and stacked firewood, trimmed overgrown bushes and hedges, brought garden beds back to objects of beauty, raked leaves, and filled an enormous trailer with discarded and rotting lumber that was taken to the dump. The best part of this endeavor was the smiles and hugs given by the homeowners to these high shocol Key Clubbers. That so many showed up at their homes to Pay it Forward was overwhelming and one of the most heart-warming experiences I have seen. Way to go Mount Si Key Club!
