In this post: Canadian bloggers’ home tours and our house.

I know I say I’m excited about a lot of things. And truly I am. I’m a bit of an all-or-nothing girl after all. But this. The Canadian Bloggers Home Tour. THIS I am extraordinarily excited about.

I love all of our readers, no matter which country you call home. The same goes for my blogging friends, of course. But my friend Christina and I thought it was time to show the world – in one easy to find place – just how talented Canadian bloggers are and how stunning their homes are too. So we selected Canadian bloggers who have gorgeous homes (big or small), great photography and mad decorating skills for a Canadian Bloggers Home Tour. We are each sharing photos of our own homes and then at the bottom of each post you will find links to seventeen more uber-talented Canadian bloggers sharing their home tours too in the first ever Canadian Bloggers Home Tour! And just to keep it real, there are not really any seasonal decorations up. These are our homes at their best, set to inspire you at any time of year. Without further ado, here is….

Our House Tour – The Almost Non-Seasonal Version

For the Canadian Bloggers Home Tour, I took some new photos and used a few old ones. Mostly because it’s summer and the house takes a bit of a beating as everyone is in and out with dirty feet! Our small front entryway opens up onto our living room, complete with white couches and shag rug. Oh and Oliver, the deer. (You may have seen him on the cover of the August 2014 Canadian Home Trends).

Things are very neutral in this space. I like to change up the accessories with the seasons so by keeping everything shades of white, doing that is easy.

This spring we participated in an online contest called Creating with the Stars, which saw us finishing four projects in four weeks. Two of them are in our living room – the coffee table and the sliding barn door.

We also tried to blend an infrequently used TV into the wall with our gallery wall.

Our main floor is actually somewhat of an open concept, with the living room and kitchen both open to the dining room. Handy hubby, Dean, and I built the dining room table. It gets a lot of use – as a dining table, homeschool table and work table! The grey hutch was an ugly kijiji find that I repainted and the buffet was a Habitat for Humanity Restore find.

The kitchen is one of my favorite rooms. We painted the existing cabinets, added a breakfast bar, beverage station and open shelving.

We’ve also made some decorating progress on our master bedroom…

And Family Room.

There are more rooms to our house – but cleaning them up with three kids underfoot is tricky! For more details, back story to how we ended up at this house and before & afters visit our House Tour page.

  1. What a treat! I’ve just toured your home (FAB!) and am looking forward to savouring the rest. 🙂

  2. Your home is a beauty Shannon, and you have such an eye for the details. Thanks for hosting the tour and inviting us all to participate!

    1. I’m so happy so many of you were able to participate and share your lovely homes with everyone!

  3. Your house is gorgeous, Shannon! I love your style, and I love Oliver the deer. Mostly neutral with pops of colour is my thing too. Thanks so much for organizing this exciting home tour with me!

  4. Great tour Shannon! Didn’t you just move into this house yesterday?? You’ve done so much to it! Love the open shelving in the kitchen.

Thanks for hosting the tour. I can’t wait to see all these beautiful homes, coast to coast.

    1. Lol. It’s been over a year and a half already! I’m so glad you joined us for the tour – I can’t believe you hadn’t done a whole house tour before on Rambling Renovators!

  5. Your home is beautiful with many stylish and special touches. I totally understand how keeping our homes tidy is never ending, especially with kids and pets. Thanks for the tour. I’m enjoying this series of Canadian blogger homes.

    1. I’m so happy you’re finding some new blogs to love! That was really the whole reason for doing the tours!

  6. Beautiful Shannon. Thanks for allowing me to wander through some of your rooms. Popping over to peek in the other homes.
    Cheers, Gee

  7. Have been in Dean and Shannon’s home and the pictures show only some of the absolute gorgeous, brilliant and stunning features that they have done. It is beautiful and welcoming as are they.

  8. Wow!! I’ve seen pics of your space before but never the whole place. There’s so many creative details every where you look. I love all your vintage touches. I think the kitchen and the pretty aqua door are my fave 🙂

  9. What a fabulous idea Shannon for a Canadian Blogger Home Tour – great to see all of this awesome ‘Northern’ content in one blog hop! Love your home – you and Dean have really created a gorgeous nest for your family!

  10. I loved seeing into your home today! The stained shelves are gorgeous, and your dining room in making me swoooooon! We are twinning with our table decorations; I have the wire pretties on my table as well. 😉 You and your man are amazing in all you have completed! I cant wait to see the shelves you are working on!

    1. The shelves are coming…just have to organize them first! I just threw everything on them when my parents came to visit this week. Lol. Kinda messy right now.

  11. Love it! Thanks for organizing the tour! I’ve been kind of disconnected from the blogging world for the past year or so – maybe longer! – and as I try to get back into it, I’ve discovered that a lot of the blogs I used to follow have experienced the same disconnect. It’s nice to see a decent sized list of fellow Canadians with such inspiration on their blogs. I have lots of reading to do!

    1. Yes, many bloggers have stepped back to think about their blogs and the work it takes to run them and if it’s all worth it. And for everyone the answer is different. We’ve had a great year, with lots of growth and refocusing. 🙂 I hope you enjoy being back at it! 🙂

  12. I have commented on your kitchen before, but I still love it so much! Your house is a perfect combination of all that I love. We have moved recently and I keep going to my favorite blogs for inspiration. Yours is one of them!! Keep the ideas rolling…… a dedicated fan.

  13. Hi Shannon, your house is beautiful! I love the neutral colour pallet mixed with rustic charm. Also the Canadian blog hop is a great idea, it’s nice to meet some fellow northern bloggers!

    1. Like I said, I adore all bloggers and readers – but it is really nice to connect with fellow Canadians, isn’t it?!

  14. I just found this today! It’s a real pleasure to see all of the gorgeous homes here in Canada, of course there are uber-talented decorators here too, just like everywhere else.
    I am in Winnipeg.
