A Very Simple Early Fall Mantel with Seeded Eucalyptus

If you want to add a little touch of fall to your decor when it’s still early in the season, try this very simple early fall mantel with seeded eucalyptus and mini white pumpkins!

This week the weather definitely started to feel more like fall. And although I was not ready to give up long, lazy afternoons floating in our backyard pool, the crisp air coming in through the open windows has been surprisingly welcome

Hi there! I’m Shannon.

In case we haven’t met and you’re new here, yes, I am wearing track pants in the photo above. You can pretend I’m fancy, if that’s your thing. Obviously, it’s not mine! 🙂

I started Home Made Lovely about 9 years ago as a DIY blog with my husband, Dean. Back then it was called AKA Design.

Now our company is more of an online media company…we still do DIYs. But now I teach women like you how to decorate their homes through my Decorating Uncomplicated course. I also share hospitality and entertaining ideas and talk about how to declutter and organize here on the blog. I’m working on a decluttering program to be ready to rock your New Year 2020. I also wrote an everything home book which is coming out in fall 2020

A few quirky things about me:

  • I can’t bake to save my life – especially pies or cookies. Heavens, I literally set the oven on fire once trying to bake a pie!
  • I can cook though! I’ve cooked for hubby and I plus our three kids everyday for the last 20+ years. I kinda had to get good at it, or we’d have starved by now.
  • I love dark roast coffee – Starbucks is my favorite – with a little vanilla almond creamer.
  • I am growing out a pixie haircut and trying to get a bit more exercise after a stressful season. Currently I feel like an awkward middle schooler!

Anywho….you’re here for a pretty fall mantel, aren’t you?

A Very Simple Early Fall Mantel with Seeded Eucalyptus

When we first moved here, this fireplace looked kinda different…

We painted the walls and then the fireplace too. Dean – the aforementioned handyman – removed the brass vent covers and sprayed them with high heat/stove paint in black so they blend in better. About a year ago we added the “Let’s Stay Home” sign.

(Don’t look too closely! Apparently I didn’t sweep well!)

For this early fall mantel, I simply added in several sprigs of regular and seeded eucalyptus and a few mini baby boo pumpkins. The baby’s breath in little jars was actually leftover from the book photoshoot back in early August. (That stuff lasts forever!)

We’re actually currently in the middle of giving the mantel another update. I do love it as it is. But this spring I found a barn beam while out antiquing/thrifting and it was just begging to become a mantel. I’ll let you know how that turns out!
