Learn how to love your home in this 30 day series about making small improvements to,
being grateful for and seeing the beauty in the home you have.
Welcome back to day 4 of our HOME SWEET HOME – 30 Days to Love Your Home series!
Yesterday we chatted about focusing on the things you actually like or love about your current home, even if it’s not your dream home. By focusing on the positives, the idea is that, in your mind at least, those things will grow and overshadow any negative thoughts. That over time, you will grow to love your home as it is.
Today’s post is all about memories. Specifically, good memories.
If you’ve been in your home for any length of time at all, chances are you have at least a couple of good memories associated with it. Perhaps you’ve been there for years and years and you have a huge bank of memories to draw from. Or maybe you’ve only been there a few months and that memory bank is a little less robust.
In either case, I want you to recall those memories.
Did you bring your kids home from the hospital to this house? Did they take their first steps there? Say their first words? Did you bring home a puppy or celebrate a milestone birthday in your house?
Those good memories happened in this space of yours, even though it’s not perfect. (Perfection is a myth, remember?)
I want to dig in and think of at least 3 good (or great) memories that happened within your four walls. Really settle in and think on them. Remember the smells and the feelings that go with them.
Get a piece of paper and a pencil, or download this free journal page, and jot down these memories. Try to capture at least three memories and all the emotions associated with them.
Spend some time on this, and let it sink in that this house of yours has some really awesome things associated with it.
I’d love to read a memory or two of yours in the comments! Let’s talk!
