Do you know anyone who decorates just like you?
My friend Rachel has almost the exact same style as me – even though we never go shopping together. Something for which I'm sure both her husband and mine are thankful.
Her style – our style – is a tiny bit farmhouse, a whole lot of neutral with some suburban industrial style thrown in for good measure.
And today, I get to show you her house.
Do those chairs look at all familiar?!
The backyard corner above holds a very special place in Rachel's heart. 🙂
Entryway and Hall
Rachel and her husband Jay have four adorable daughters and one little dog named Charlie.
Their house is a pretty traditional suburban house. The main floor entry and stairway is in the middle with a dining room and living room on one side, family room on the other and kitchen in back.
Rachel really likes neutrals with hits of aqua and turquoise.
And candles. Lots of candles!
I adore the left turn only sign!
Rachel and Jay's four daughters adore bright colors like so many young girls do.
Shortly after I took these photos, Rachel repainted a couple of the girls room with a light grey paint, but kept some of the fun accessories to make the littles happy!
The master bedroom is pretty serene and calm, with a few nods to Rachel's French background.
The family room at Rachel and Jay's has gotten lots of love in the last few years with a fireplace makeover and lots of comfy seating.
Rachel achieves the suburban industrial vibe in the dining room by mixing woods and adding accessories that create a vintage twist to the more traditional features of the house.
Aren't those candle pillars gorgeous?!
And Finally the Living Room
The living room (after it's recent makeover) tends to be a great place for hanging out with and hosting friends of both Rachel and Jay. Just look at the big comfy couch she got as a hand me down from a friend!
A really great way to do neutrals or tone on tone well is to incorporate loads of texture.
What do you think of Rachel and Jay's suburban industrial looking home? Doesn't it remind you of our house filled with lots of detail and beautiful things to look at everywhere you turn?
Unfortunately I don't have a source list for you. Rachel shops a lot online and at places like Homesense (Homegoods). 🙂
