Pastel Over Gold Painted Mason Jars

Rustic farmhouse style for spring! Pastel over gold painted mason jars that can even be used as vases.

I know that I know that I know that I’m not the first blogger to paint a mason jar. But I also know that I adore the look of rustic pastel-colored painted mason jars!  Aren’t they so sweet? For my jars, I wanted to be able to use them as vases (which meant no spray paint on the inside) but I also wanted a little bit of gold bling to show through too. Tricky!

5. Lightly sand to distress and allow the gold to show through. Don’t sand too hard or the gold will come off too!

And then all you have to do is find a really cute place to display your new pastel and gold mason jars!

    Love these!
I did some pastel ones for a friend as a house warming gift but painted the insides white to show through when I lightly sanded. Because I had painted the insides, I sprayed them with a clear sealer but just to be safe she uses mini plastic inserts before putting her flowers in. <3

Those are gorgeous! I’ve had very good luck selling painted mason jars in my booth at the antique mall. I’m about to start a new batch, but first I have to get some gold spray paint so I can try this! 🙂

I have seen so many painted mason jars, but I think these are my favorite!!! I love the colors. Your post has given me an idea for 2 vases that I just purchased that I am going to put silk flowers in. They needed some color to them. I’m thinking some puffy paint in a design on the vase, then follow your steps. I know I’ll have to be uber careful with the sanding so I don’t sand down the puffy paint, but I think it will work. Thanks for the inspiration.
