In this post: Some elements of summer with our nautical beachy summer mantel decor.
After this past winter, it felt like summer would never, ever come again, didn’t it?!
But it finally has and we are enjoying sleeping with the windows open, wearing shorts and flip flops and all sorts of other outdoor goodness like bonfires and fireworks and parties on the patio (which we will show you soon).
Yesterday I spent the day playing around with a new mantel look – a nautical beachy look that I’ve never tried before.
As is typical of much of my decor, it is not very colorful. Unlike last year’s summer mantel, which was very out of character! Anyway, Oliver had to stay even though he’s not nautical or beachy – he’s part of the family, you know.
Aside from the decorative fishing net I picked up at Michael’s a couple of weeks ago I used nothing new.
The lantern was from when I bought a few new things to style the RH-Inspired Brick Maker’s Table, the pots and pail have been kicking around for ages.
And the sailboats I whipped up in just a few minutes with some leftover wood, scrap fabric and my glue gun.
Oh wait! I did get one more new thing – I love the little sign I found at Michael’s. They sell them for about $3-7 depending on the size. Isn’t it adorable? And the sentiment is so true too.
Has your weather warmed up? Are the kids out of school yet? What are your summer plans?
