In this post: Some elements of summer with our nautical beachy summer mantel decor.

After this past winter, it felt like summer would never, ever come again, didn’t it?!

But it finally has and we are enjoying sleeping with the windows open, wearing shorts and flip flops and all sorts of other outdoor goodness like bonfires and fireworks and parties on the patio (which we will show you soon).

Yesterday I spent the day playing around with a new mantel look – a nautical beachy look that I’ve never tried before.

AKA DESIGN living room summer mantel

As is typical of much of my decor, it is not very colorful. Unlike last year’s summer mantel, which was very out of character! Anyway, Oliver  had to stay even though he’s not nautical or beachy – he’s part of the family, you know.

Aside from the decorative fishing net I picked up at Michael’s a couple of weeks ago I used nothing new.

The lantern was from when I bought a few new things to style the RH-Inspired Brick Maker’s Table, the pots and pail have been kicking around for ages.

And the sailboats I whipped up in just a few minutes with some leftover wood, scrap fabric and my glue gun.

Oh wait! I did get one more new thing – I love the little sign I found at Michael’s. They sell them for about $3-7 depending on the size. Isn’t it adorable? And the sentiment is so true too.

    1. Well then, happy summer to you! We’ve still got a few weeks of school left – but we don’t go back until September.

  1. This is so pretty, Shannon! I just keep pinning mantels to use the tips for my shelves because the top of the piano is as close as I get to a mantel! I’m horrible at vignettes but I keep hoping y’all that are good at them will rub off on me! Thanks for joining us for another tour!

    1. I didn’t have a mantel either until we built this one a couple of years ago. And really it’s just a big shelf!

    1. Love shades of white, neutral and a tonne of texture! And maybe a little bling sprinkled about here and there too.

  2. You have a lovely home. The nautical mantle is so much fun. Hugs P.S. I invite you to share at my hop tomorrow.

  3. LOVED what you “whipped up”! Such a cute idea! Shannon what a fun and creative design!

  4. What a natural, beautiful Summer mantel you worked your magic on Shannon! You’re sailboats are super cool and I love the painted fan.
Two more days of school here in FL for the kiddos. Can’t wait to get our Summer break started. Enjoy!

  5. I love your mantel so much Shannon! Those sailboats are absolutely darling! Your home is just beautiful and I’m so thrilled that we are part of this series together. 🙂
