Ever wonder what the kids are up to when you’re not home? Here’s a simple way to keep an eye on the kids, the pets and the house while you’re away!
Thank you Ooma Butterfleye for sponsoring this post.
When your kids are small, it feels like it will be forever-and-a-day until you will be able to leave them home alone. Like you’ll be hiring a babysitter or staying home every day and night for the rest of your life. But, as a mom of three who blinked and suddenly has teenagers, I can assure you that day will come sooner than you think. And no matter how many times you leave them home alone even after that first time, you will still want to know what they’re doing. Here’s a simple way to keep an eye on the kids (and the pets and the house) when you’re not home!
What Happens When I’m Not Home?
No matter what kind of parent you are, when you leave your kids and teenagers home alone, there is likely going to be a little nagging voice in the back of your head that’s wondering what they’re doing while you’re gone.
If they are still young-ish and not very experienced being home on their own, you want to know they’re okay and managing this new responsibility well. If they’re older, you mostly wonder if they’re behaving and not eating all the cookies the second you step out the door.
Yes, I admit. I’m that mom. I adore my kids, I think they’re pretty awesome and I trust them…99.9% of the time. #butthecookies
And then there’s our dog.
He cannot be trusted at all and gets into anything and everything if he’s accidentally left out of his crate when we’re not home (or even if he’s left alone on the main floor). He’s also been known to chew his bed or get his paw stuck on his own collar when we’re not looking. #littlerascal
And of course, there’s the house. Thankfully, it can’t get into trouble on its own. But, even if no one is home, it helps my sanity to know I can look in on it from time to time.
How to Keep an Eye on the Kids, the Pets & the House While You’re Out
It’s a sleekly designed home security camera that blends seamlessly into our farmhouse style decor (hello, it’s white!).
The Ooma Butterfleye has an app I can access on my iPhone. It has apps for other iOS devices and Android too. It simply plugs into the wall for power. If the power goes out, the rechargeable battery keeps it going. There are subscriptions that allow you to store data, give instant alerts (motion, sound, face, anti-tamper), have up to 6 cameras connected and the option to use two-way audio! The subscriptions range from free to $9.99 a month for home use. Plus, the Ooma Butterfleye has facial recognition so it doesn’t send an alert every time one of the kids makes faces at it! 😉
