Learn how to love your home in this 30 day series about making small improvements,
being grateful for and seeing the beauty in the home you have.
Hello sweet friends. Well, it’s October – the unofficial start to the fall season, the lead up to the Holidays and the month of Canadian Thanksgiving. It’s also traditionally the month when many bloggers choose to Write for 31 days about a single topic. Something I’m doing for the first time in 7+ years of blogging.
I’ll be doing 30 days instead of 31. 🙂
Before you worry that 30 days of ‘the same’ will be boring or that I couldn’t possibly have enough to say about one topic to fill 31 whole days (do you know me at all?)…I want to tell you that I’m actually making this entire series about you and your home. #itsnotaboutme
You see, I believe that home is the most important place on earth. I’ve always felt this way.
Home is a space where you can go to rest and recharge. It’s a safe place for you and for your family. It’s also a place where you can invite other people so that they can rest and recharge. I know this to be true because we have created this space in our home…and I want the same for you.
I also know that for many of you it’s hard to love your home and see the beauty in it because of all of its imperfections. When you’re unhappy with your home, it’s easy to take it for granted and not appreciate it. It’s even easy to dislike it and dare I say, despise it.
But – newsflash – no home this side of heaven is perfect. But you can learn to love your home, the home you have right now.
What to Expect from Home Sweet Home – 30 Days to Love Your Home
Over the next 31 days we’re going to tackle a few simple things around your house.
You’ll clean out some junk (both physical junk and mental junk), create some coziness, share some old memories and begin to see your home in a new way.
You’ll mull over future plans, come up with ideas for making new memories and you’ll learn a few things to think about when you’re feeling less than happy with your home going forward.
All while I’m right there with you, cheering you on.
So What Is Today’s Take Away?
Today’s nugget is just to acknowledge that home is the most important place on earth. And if you don’t already love your home, it’s okay. You’ll be so much closer to loving your home in 31 days.
P.S. One of my favorite books of all time is (affiliate link) The Most Important Place on Earth: What a Christian Home Looks Like and How to Build One, by Robert Wolgemuth. I read it years ago and it’s one that I keep returning to.
