Traditionally flatbread is a bread that is made without yeast and is thus flatter than regular bread – hence the name “flatbread.” It’s the perfect choice for making homemade pizzas!

Want a simple-to-make, versatile and delicious weekday lunch or date night dinner? Look no further than our Grilled Chicken Margherita Flatbread Pizza. It’s made with Naan flatbread, grilled chicken breasts, fresh tomatoes, and mozzarella cheese all drizzled with olive oil and balsamic vinegar for that gourmet flavor at home. These ingredients yield ONE individual pizza:

  • 1 Naan flatbread
  • 2 slices of fresh mozzarella cheese
  • 3 slices Roma tomatoes
  • fresh basil
  • 1 clove of garlic, crushed
  • 1 tbsp Balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 chicken breast

Topping Ideas & Flatbread Pizza Variations

Start with variations on traditional pizza that you already know and love and embellish from there. 

  • Classic pepperoni pizza – use pizza sauce, oregano, mozzarella, and lots of pepperoni slices
  • Pesto chicken pesto pizza – top the flatbread with pesto sauce, mozzarella, basil, garlic, and chicken
  • BBQ chicken pizza – top your flatbread with bbq sauce, mozzarella cheese, chicken, and red onions
  • Grilled veggie pizza – top with either pesto or tomato sauce/marinara and mozzarella, then add grilled veggies like bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, asparagus, or Brussel sprouts

How to Make Margarita Chicken Flatbread Pizza

01| Grill chicken breast (if using) at 450 degrees for about 15 mins or until 165 degrees inside. When finished chop cooked chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces.

02| Season and cook the flatbread. Mix crushed garlic and oil together. Brush flatbread with mixture and place on a baking sheet in preheated oven at 350 degrees for 5 mins to crisp up.

03| Assemble your pizza. Remove the flatbread from the oven. Place slices of cheese and tomatoes on flatbread. Add chopped chicken. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. 

04| Bake the assembled pizzas. Place back in the oven for another 5 mins plus an extra 2-3 mins on broil. Watch bread carefully so it doesn’t burn.

05| Garnish the pizzas. Mix balsamic vinegar with oil and garlic mixture. Chop basil leaves. Take flatbread out of the oven, and drizzle with balsamic vinegar mixture. Sprinkle with basil. Slice and serve!

What to use instead of flatbread?

You can use naan, pita bread, or even a couple of stacked tortillas to make these pizzas. 

Can I freeze flatbread?

Yes! You can either freeze the flatbread and toppings separately or freeze the assembled pizzas and just heat them up in the oven before serving.
