In this post: Creating a beautiful mantel for the Holidays is easier than you’d think. Here are a few Christmas mantel decor ideas that you’ll love!
One of many surfaces that gets decorated for the holidays at our house is our mantel. When we first built our big shelf mantel, we didn’t have a fireplace mantel to decorate. (We do now, but I still love the idea of decorating a big chunky shelf like it’s a mantel anyway.) Where you have an actual fireplace mantel or a shelf that fits the bill, there is practically no end to the ways that it can be decorated for Christmas. Here are a few Christmas mantel decor ideas to hopefully inspire you.
Christmas Mantel Decor Ideas You’ll Love!
I’m thrilled to be sharing all kinds of Christmas mantel decor ideas with you today. All of the Christmas mantel decor ideas below are ones that we’ve employed in our own Christmas decorating over the last few years. Plus, if you scroll down, you’ll see even more mantel decor ideas from my blog friends!
Typographic Elements
While the faux deer head mounted to the wall is front and center, the typographic framed artwork and banner are the stars of this mantel. Greenery and hits of sparkle add to the look in the form of a mini tree, kissing ball and mercury glass candlesticks.
Red and Gold
Still using our stag head as an anchor piece this mantel is filled with hits of red and gold. There’s an advent calendar to mark the days, sparkly gold on a canvas and a little bit of greenery too.
Dark and Light
This mantel uses the contrast of dark wood and light hits of white in the candlesticks, stars and pitcher. An informal rag wreath marks the center of the arrangement.
Dark Neutrals
For this mantel a book page backdrop fills in the gaps where a collection of signs and the rag wreaths lean. A green garland drapes the mantel with just a hint of the outdoors.
Light Neutrals
White and cream work together to create this almost romantic, shabby chic looking mantel. The burlap banner gives a nod to the reason for the season.
Dealing with a TV
If you have a TV above your mantel, like we do in our current living room, you can still make your fireplace mantel look gorgeous for the Holidays. We have an entire post about how to decorate a mantel with a TV above it here. But the really short version is to keep all your decor low and really pretty your mantel up with garland and pretty stockings!
