Do you remember back in October when we mentioned that we started our Christmas decorating extra early this year? Do you remember us telling you it was because of a project with a big Canadian retailer?
Well today we can finally tell you that it was also for a collaboration with three other fabulous Canadian bloggers (Jennifer, Jo-Anna and Kerri) – and Canadian Tire’s online Christmas catalog!
On the very day my family all arrived for (Canadian) Thanksgiving, three large boxes arrived via a lovely courier from Canadian Tire bearing dishes, decorations and other tableware – for Christmas. Talk about seasonal confusion – it was still fall everywhere else in the house and Christmas in the dining room!

Anyways, the weekend after Thanksgiving (Canadian Thanksgiving, so keep in mind this was October before Halloween even!) my girls pulled out our tree and Christmas totes and I got started putting together a traditional red Christmas dining room – with a bit of Farmhouse Chic thrown in.

I think I shot about 100+ photos before I was finished – with only two making it into the final pages of the online catalog. Which is totally okay because aside from the tree, the rest of the dining room has been changed up already (we got a new hutch – which you’ll see on our Christmas house tour on Wednesday!).
We started with a plain white tablecloth just across the center of the table and then layered a section of wide burlap and red ribbon under each set of two place settings. At each place we used a snowflake charger, and layered gorgeous white porcelain dinnerware with feature plates to add a festive red touch to the table.

For a simple but statement centerpiece we raised up a few pillar candles surrounded by shiny ornaments on a simple white cake stand nestled in a green pine wreath (totally fake!).
On every chair we featured some faux flocked greenery and berries by simply folding the wired stem over the back of the chair.
And these little silver reindeer finished off our little table setting…
Anyway, be sure to pop over to the Canadian Tire catalog to see all four Canadian blogger dining rooms – and all the inspirational ideas and products that go with them!

When do you start decorating for Christmas? Do you use the same colors every year? Do you use a real or artificial tree?

Your dining room looks so warm and cozy Shannon! The burlap and berries really look great with your farmhouse table. So fun to be featured with you in the Canadian Tire magazine!

Absolutely LOVELY. I love all of the natural elements… and I am obsessed with your paper Christmas trees. Beautiful details!
I almost forgot about those paper trees! I made them two years ago and happily pulled them out of the Christmas bucket.

Thanks, Lucy. I wish I could keep the fur on the bench all the time!!

Beautiful job, Shannon! I love how you incorporated what they sent you into a tablescape that is a reflection of your own pretty decorating style! Happy to have collaborated with you, Jen and Jo-Anna on this project! Looking forward to seeing the changes you’ve made to the room, including the hutch. Hugs, Kerri
It was fun to make it all our own! You did a great job with yours as well. 🙂 Come back Wednesday for the tour.

Isn’t he sweet? 🙂 Thank you Katrina for always leaving lovely comments.
Never too early to being decorating for Christmas, right? The dining room looks warm and so very festive. Nice work!
Christmas is hands down my favorite holiday, for sure!
Your table looks fabulous. I love the burlap ribbon with red stripes that you put across the table and the cake stand with candles and ornaments and the little swags on the back of the chairs … oh and the pretty red plates you used.
Thanks, Grace! I went to get more burlap ribbon and it was all gone. 🙁 Merry Christmas!)
It was so beautiful! I really want to go to Christmas now! You make me feel now Christmas is coming!
