We all want a beautiful, peaceful, well-organized space to come home to.

But most of us are so stressed and overwhelmed or afraid of messing up that we’ve given up even trying to create a home we love.

See if this sounds familiar…

Instead of living in a home you love and can be proud of, there’s a good chance that:

  • You can’t take your eyes off all the things you don’t like about your home for long enough to realize there are some good things too.
  • You’re overwhelmed and have no idea where to start decluttering, organizing, or decorating your home.
  • You’re frustrated at the time and money you’ve wasted trying to figure it out on your own.
  • You’ve lost confidence in your ability to make decisions about what to keep, what to get rid of, and how on earth to make your home look and function the way you desperately wish it would.
  • You’re discouraged by how your home looks and maybe even a little embarrassed to have people over because your home is just not where you think it should be.
I used to feel all those things too and

I spent years wishing for a stylish and organized home.

  • I watched makeover shows constantly.
  • I paged through magazines and scrolled through gorgeously decorated and organized homes online.
  • I walked the aisles of my favorite decor stores and picked up a lamp here and a drawer organizer there.

Unfortunately, all that did was add clutter and make me more miserable and unhappy with my home. I was so focused on the things I hated. I grumbled about the mess and the lack of pretty decor.

But everything changed when I realized that I was the only one who could change my attitude and that I was the only one who could create a home I loved for myself and my family.

So I decided I was going to make myself fall in love with my home – as it was right then – while also making it more and more like I dreamed it could be. And I did.

How did I do that? It was simple…

I chose gratitude AND I figured out how to go about creating a home in the right order.

I figured out that when it comes to creating a stylish and organized home you love, there are 5 simple steps that you must follow, in order. If you don’t, you’ll waste hundreds if not thousands of dollars, hours of your time and you’ll still hate your home!

The proper way to create a home you love works like this:

Step One:

Embrace Gratitude

First, you must practice an attitude of gratitude and retrain your brain to embrace the good things in your home because what you focus on grows (in your mind, at least). And if you’re always focusing on the ugly things, you’ll be miserable and you’ll never make any progress in your home.

Step Two:

Declutter

Then you declutter because no amount of organizing or decorating can fix too much clutter. 👈🏻 Read that again. You absolutely cannot organize or decorate away clutter!

Step Three:

Organize

After you declutter, you organize the things you need to keep and the things you love. Organizing today leads to a more functional home tomorrow… which leads to so much less stress.

Step Four:

Establish Habits

Next, you establish home habits and routines that will put your organization and home chores on autopilot, so you don’t even have to think about keeping things organized again!

Step Five:

Decorate

Finally, you decorate. Decorating comes after everything else because if it doesn’t, you’ll waste time and money trying to decorate around all the stuff you don’t need and your home will still not look how you want it to. (Decorating also has its own 5-step process that needs to be followed in order!)

Every time you go out of order in this process or peck around at one step and then jump willy-nilly to another, you get further and further away from the stylish, organized home you want.

And you get more and more overwhelmed and stressed.

Every. Single. Time.

But, if you follow my process:

  • You will become genuinely thankful for your home and you will easily see things to love about it.
  • You’ll know EXACTLY where to start decluttering, organizing, and decorating, without hesitation.
  • You won’t waste another cent on organization that doesn’t work, decor you end up not liking once you get it home, or choosing the wrong paint color!
  • You’ll regain the confidence you need to get rid of the things that no longer serve you, keeping only what does, and you’ll be able to choose decor that works perfectly in your space.
  • You’ll love your home and be proud to invite your friends and family in.

I wanted to help mommas just like you, so I created Home Made Lovely.

A Message From Shannon

It breaks my heart to see women, and mommas especially, struggling with their homes. Feeling overwhelmed and frustrated by the mess and like they’ll never be able to do anything about it. Thinking they’re not talented or creative enough to make their homes more stylish.

I remember that feeling well because that was me too. I remember too many piles and too many tchotchkes. I remember choosing the wrong paint color again and again and not knowing how to put patterns and colors together. I remember feeling so unhappy with my home.

And when I finally decided enough was enough in my own home, I wasn’t sure how to change it. I wished for something, anything that would help me love my home.

Which is why I created Home Made Lovely. To show you how to love where you live. To find joy in every corner. To add the style and organization that would allow you and your family to flourish in your home. Without taking years and years to figure it out on your own.
