Monday's tend to get a bad wrap because they can be hard. These 5 Simple Things to do on the weekend will help you have a more productive Monday
Maybe it is because you are coming off a relaxing weekend and Monday is a looming reminder that you have to go back to work so you can pay those bills. The weekend tips below will help you transition a little smoother into your regular Monday grind.
Have a More Productive Monday With These 5 Tips
1. Use a Weekly Planner
Take some time on Sunday take time to fill out your weekly planner. This is a great way to see what is on the calendar for the week and to help mentally prepare you. Set any alarms on your phone for important meetings or deadlines you need to meet. Taking time to work on your calendar is a great way to stay on track, sleep well and not wake up and wonder what you have to get done for the day.
2. Meal Plan And Meal Prep
We generally grocery shop on Thursday nights or Fridays. Before Dean or I head out, I take time to sit down and plan meals for the week. I write down what we will do for all 3 meals of the day, and plan for leftovers accordingly. Then on Friday night (in the winter) or Saturday I pull out all the items I need, prep any meals and cook up meals for lunches and quick breakfast options. I might make freezer breakfast burritos or sandwiches, banana bread, muffins, or whatever we are wanting for the week. Then just reheat and go. If I'm really organized I cook meat in bulk for tacos, chili, spaghetti sauce and foods like that.
3. Clothes For Week
Since I don't work outside the house anymore, I don't do this one so much. But if you do, you may find it helpful to go through and plan outfits for the week. That way when the mornings come you can just toss on some clothes and go. This is great to do for young kids as well, so it is one less thing to tackle. Let them help pick their outfit so they are interested in it. I used to like to put any accessories and socks and shoes next to the outfit so it really cuts down on time. I still do this when I travel.
4. Clean the House
On the weekend, I like to go through and pick up the house and wipe down counters if they've gotten messy throughout the week. Get any laundry that needs to be done finished and put away. That way when Monday rolls around you will have an easier week. I don't worry about deep cleaning, I can just pick up any clutter, wipe down counters, and take the trash out and the house looks good.
5. Relax
One big way to make sure your Monday goes more smoothly is to relax on the weekend. Take time to do something you enjoy so that you can feel relaxed and ready for the week. We live in such a busy world we need to take time for ourselves. Binge on some Netflix, spend time in your garden, or cuddled up in a blanket with your favorite book. Just make sure you create time for you.
