5 Essential Planner Accessories
In this post, I talked about how to put together a printable planner and my favorite DIY planner supplies. Here are a few things I think are essential for any planner to be successful.
1. The Right Planner!
Obviously, you need a planner that works for your life. It must fit your needs and preferences, or it’s going to turn into just another notebook sitting on your desk collecting dust.
Before you choose the right planner, spend some time researching the different options out there. Some popular choices include Erin Condren Life Planner, Emily Ley Simplified Planner, Passion Planner, and the Productivity Planner. Plus there’s always our very own Abundant Life Printable Planner.
2. Multi-Colored Pens
Even if you want to be a minimalist when it comes to planning, pens of several different colors are helpful. You can color code for each family member or each area of your life (for example, home, work, hobbies, children, etc).
It’s also fun to switch up the color of ink you use week after week. This can help to break up the monotony of planning.
3. Washi Tape
This decorative paper tape has taken on many uses for avid planning peeps. You can use it to segregate different sections of your planner pages, or simply to add color to an otherwise white page. Some use washi tape to highlight important meetings or due dates. You can also re-label a section of your planner by sticking a strip of tape over it!
Another great way to have fun with your planner is by using stickers. You may want to print out some common stickers, such as for trash day, bills that are due, payday or birthdays. Many planner companies make these just for their planners too. Erin Condren and Happy Planner come to mind when I think of planner sticker sets!
You can also purchase stickers that are more decorative for holidays or the different seasons. These can be purchased at the dollar store or craft supply store. Having fun with your planner makes it more than a chore – but an enjoyable hobby!
5. Planner Tote Bag
You need a place to store all of your planner supplies when you aren’t using them. A small tote bag that will hold your planner as well as your pens, washi tape, and stickers is a great idea. Totes are especially helpful if you like to take your planning on the go.
With these essential planning supplies, you’ll be able to organize your life and priorities. These tools make everything easier and more fun for you!
